Landscape, Composition and Depth at The Courtauld Gallery

Working from the landscape paintings in the Courtauld Gallery, this course will demystify and explain the processes and techniques involved in creating depth in the rendering of mainly naturalistic landscape paintings and drawings.

Learn how to draw landscapes and all about excellent perspective drawing through explanation, demonstrations and your own attempts. By the end of the day you will understand the power of techniques such as overlapping forms, layering and using diminishing sizes along with converging and leading lines in the composition of a great landscape drawing.

Landscape, composition & depth: The Courtauld Gallery is a full colour course and you will have full explanations and demonstrations in how to use a range of good quality materials such as pastel pencils, water soluble coloured pencils, water brushes and intense water soluble pastels.

The day will start at 10.15 inside the Courtauld Gallery and finish at 5.15. There is a break for lunch from 1.15 to 2.15.

All materials and stools  are provided except sketchbooks; please bring your own A3 sketchbook for use during the day.
