For Drawing and Painting Landscapes in Holland Park
Where and when to meet
Meet at the “Sun Trap” entrance at the northern tip of Holland Park at 10:00 – NOTE THIS IS EARLIER THAN USUAL DUE TO THE WALKING WE MAY HAVE TO DO.
The nearest tube is Holland Park, don’t go to High St Ken unless you fancy a very long walk.
There is a covered seating area just inside from the North “Sun Trap” entrance, the group will meet here.
Please make every effort not to be late, we may not be able to wait for you and it might be tricky to find us if you are. If for some reason you are late please text/call Rosa on 07883 068 325.
The class will finish around 5-5.15. If you need to leave early you can.
You need to bring your own sketchbook but all other materials apart from stools will be provided by us, we recommend that you invest in the largest sketch book you can, preferably A3, hard-backed and ringbound so you can fold it over and rest it comfortably on your knee. As we will be working with colours and water in this course it try to ensure you have good quality paper that is not too thin.
You need to bring your own Stool to sit on for this course. I recommend something fairly low so that you can rest your drawing materials on the ground and reach them easily, if your stool is too high it may be uncomfortable for you to keep reaching down.
The stool linked here is a good example of the kind of thing. It is very low but surprisingly comfortable to use for landscape painting I find.
What to wear and bring
Please wear weather appropriate clothing. We will be outside for most of the day and it could be cold or a little wet or boiling hot and sunburning. Please be prepared with sun hats, sun cream or rain coats and jumpers.
If Rain is Forecast
If heavy rain is forecast in the morning I may call off the day. Please check your emails before leaving the house for a message from me, if you are unsure give me a call on the morning itself on 07883 068 325. It will still go ahead if the occasional light shower is forecast. I have designed the day so that we can be undercover if need be and I will only call off the day in advance if it looks like it will be very wet.
Please be aware that there are loos in the park but the walking distances may be fairly large so if you can try and go before we meet at the beginning of the day that’s probably best.
We will take a lunch break between 1.15 and 2.15. Feel free to bring a packed lunch or eat in the Park Cafe.
